The History of Target
Formally
known as the Dayton Company- founded by George Draper Dayton in 1902.
In the 1940’s they started giving back to the community by giving 5% of
their pre-tax profits back to the community. This might sound familiar,
for if you sign up for a red card, you get 5% off your purchase! In 1995
the first Super Target was established in none other than Omaha,
Nebraska. It included: full-service grocery, a photography studio, a
pharmacy, and restaurants. In 1962, the Dayton Company had officially become “Target”.
